From The Heart Workshop

From The Heart

Introductory Workshop

‘From The Heart’ is an introductory workshop on the theme of grief, facilitated by Sarah and Tony Pletts.

‘From The Heart’ will include gentle exercises to encourage being present with your inner experience while being part of a group. We will include practices inspired by Francis Weller and others. This short workshop is ideal for anyone who wishes to know more about the practice of Grief Tending, and begin to develop tools for dealing with grief – our own, or for our friends and colleagues.

Everyone is different, and we invite you to be curious about which feelings might be stirring in you – which might include sorrow, relief, anxiety, elation, despair, anger, shame, hope, numbness, guilt, joy and overwhelm.

There are many reasons to grieve. Everyone experiences the pain of loss, fear, absence and disappointment. For many there is additionally shame in admitting to feeling vulnerable. When uncomfortable feelings are hidden, our positive energies may be less accessible too. We aim to create an atmosphere where it is possible to open up in a kind, manageable way, as much or as little as you like. As a group, we come together simply to share our humanity.

“Each person’s grief is as unique as their fingerprint. But what everyone has in common is that no matter how they grieve, they share a need for their grief to be witnessed. That doesn’t mean needing someone to try to lessen it or reframe it for them. The need is for someone to be fully present to the magnitude of their loss without trying to point out the silver lining.”
David Kessler

“Give sorrow words. The grief that does not speak
Whispers the o’everfraught heart, and bids it break.”
William Shakespeare
